Wow

So... I guess there's just a few people interested in the Webbie. Glad to see it! Just a reminder to everyone that I have comments moderation turned on for the blog, as I'm a regular target of soft-core porn spammers. If you happen to double-post because you didn't know this, it's OK: I'll clean out the duplicate before the drawing. But you may have to wait a bit for me to get to the moderation screen to let your posts through. (Yes, spammers have hit the giveaway, too.)

Edit: I've figured out a way for winners to get in touch with me after the drawing. I'll start a "winner's circle" post when the time comes, and have winners post there privately for verification.

There's still time to enter! And don't forget to enter on the other blogs with giveaways, too: see Rhodia Drive for links.

Are you getting hassled by the Chinese porn spammer? Because that dude (bot?) will NOT leave me alone. As I have pointed out before, English-language web sites written for a handful of analog nerds who want to talk about typewriters and notebooks seem like obvious targets for Chinese porn spam, wouldn't you agree?

Exactly. I know spam is untargeted, but this guy/bot/weasel sure has focus problems.

I get an email for every post (or attempted post) here, and I can banish spam with a single click, which I do after I report the fake blog connected to the account. If the spammer inconveniences me, I do it back.

Once they stumble across the URL, they keep hitting it, unfortunately...

I've had spambots on my personal forum, but thus far, have stayed out of any sights on my blog.

Looks like Blogger just did a much-needed update of their comment moderation and publishing system, including (praise be) a "Spam" bucket to catch the losers. This may be enough for me to drop the moderation and just go back to getting polite emails about comments instead of feeling like I need to hop-to when a new message comes in.
