Brass duets with your daughter -- how cool is THAT?
Playing a musical instrument is good for your brain, and making music is good for your heart and soul.
I'm off to town to play cornet/trumpet in the Nevada County Concert Band for the annual 4th of July Parade; this year it's on the main street of Nevada City.
Have fun with the baritone horn! Maybe we can add brass duets (or trios, if your daughter is available) to our Type-In activities!
Your daughter will absolutely remember the time you spend together, too. My Dad picked up the violin in his late 40s (and in his case, he'd not played one before), and I cherish those times-even the times when we all ended up arguing about rhythm (or certain people's lack thereof) and such like.
I play clarinet, have played since 4th grade; and, going strong into my freshman year in college, I have since learned bassoon and saxophone as well. Music is a great way to relax, and of course work on creating, just as we do with typewritten documents. :)
Well done! Playing an instrument is always a good thing... if you find someone else to make music with is also a lot better! I've got a band and I enjoy playing guitar at home alone, but when I gig with my friends it's another world, too much fun :-)
