An Author is Me

I spent the holiday weekend making a mess on our dining room table, and after much tweaking and pixel-pushing and fishing around for compliments, I pulled the trigger: One Last Quest is purchasable, at least electronically. That's one small step for (a) man, one more leap for the Typosphere. (Just following in Mr. Speegle's footsteps, here.) Now I sit back and recoil in horror at all the typos that slid by undetected.

Can't sit for long, though. I'm already reading through the formatting guide to upload directly to Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Formatting for Smashwords is very particular, and I hope that I can use the same file -- or a slightly tweaked version -- to handle the other two sites. And then I need to figure out if I'm going to resurrect the print version that I proofed oh-so-long ago.

The only scary part is the jump...

Impressive carving and nice layout!

Its a good, fun story, so your readers will be happy. Granted, I'm probably your ideal reader (i.e. typewriter enthusiast, Nano participant, writer, fantasy roleplayer, fantasy reader)...not sure you can find a better fit than that for your book:)

Good luck on your distribution and sales!

Love the Edward Gorey-esque sensibility of the cover carving. :-)

@notagain & @Ledeaux: thanks! The cover was fun to put together, once I figured out what I wanted to do. There was only a wee pit of Photoshoppery for placement and scale.

@deek: You, and a thousand other people like you are the sort I want to find. I have no problem with niche audiences. I'm pretty "niche" myself.

That'll do, Mike. Well done.

Thanks for the kind words, all. And Rob, special thanks to you for the notion of staying flexible. I'm a bit of a rigid thinker when I get an idea in my head. I had to let it go, and I'm happy with the result.

I bought my copy, even having read it during the editing process. FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE, INTERNETS.

Ooh, I love the cover! Nicely done!

(verif words: struth and onuble. "Verily, that cover rocketh! 'Struth, onuble Sir Clemens!")

I'll check it out in more detail later. Congrats!

Love it, Mike. Print - oh yeah. I've made a solemn vow never to read a digital book.

I hear you, Duffy. I plan to clean up my paper version and make it available that way, too. I need to have a copy to send to mom, after all.
