Two Things

  1. Because I can't leave well enough alone, I'm considering adding some rub-on transfers to strategic locations on the pimped-out Brother. I'll need to trek down to the craft store, but I'm thinking something in the interior of the case (like under the keys) would look pretty sweet, and break up all that eye-sweating redness. Stay tuned. I'm still hunting for designs that don't look like a frat boy tattoo.
  2. I know I mentioned The Impossible Project in an earlier post, but they have a new press release today announcing a modest resurrection of Polaroid cameras and Polaroid-branded film. Might want to harvest a couple from Goodwill while they're still cheap for the taking.

You may want to try inkjet waterslide decals. It's what I used on the Parnelli Jones Monarch. That way you can create any graphic you want.

"The Impossible Project" is freakin' wild! If instant analog photography can make a comeback, there just may be hope for Humanity after all.

I can supposedly also make my own rub-off decals, though the process sounds potentially iffy. I'll look at see what the store has first.

I vote for an Immaculate Heart graphic.

An Immaculate Heart and your name in Gothic calligraphy.

I've been thinking about this, MPC, and I've come to this conclusion: you need to publish a handbook of guerilla retrotech craft projects. You are an endless source for this stuff. Strikethru Publishing is standing by with a contract...

It's true. I would buy it.

Careful Speegle: my wife wants me to part with it.

First, let me go on-record by saying that available rub-on transfer options stink unless you're making a cutesy baby book or want it to say something like "DREAM * LOVE * LAUGH"... which I don't. Where are the flaming skulls? The hearts pierced with swords? I may yet have to look into DIY paper as Olivander suggests (I see that they also offer rub-on transfer stuff.)

Second, my level of retro-hackery is inspired by and stolen from the case modders out there. There's no rule that says we can't trick out our pre-computer tech. I'm looking into some under lighting and hydraulic lifters for Norma Jean, maybe some nice bass speakers as well.
